            Balance =                    $11,429.06

COMMUNITY REPORTS:

Roads and Drainage- A complaint was received that possibly no permit was obtained for an asphalt addition to a property on Ave. C.  Terrye will call the county to find out if the owners have a permit.

Community Watch-  A fraud alert was noted regarding counterfeit $50. bills being passed in the county.  These bills cannot be detected by using the counterfeit pen, but must be placed up to the light and examined for various security measures used by the US Treasury.  Contact Calvert County Sherriff's office (410 535-2800) or MD State Police Prince Frederick Barrack (410 535-1400) for more information.  There is also a confidence fraud occurring in the county.  This scheme is directed at senior citizens.  A suspect (white, male, late 40's or early 50's) approaches the victim and asks about home maintenance or repair work.  Once inside the residence, the suspect will separate himself from the victim and steal objects from the house.  For additional information, contact The Calvert Investigative Team, Sgt. R. King (410 535-1600, ext. 2455) or Sgt. M. Moore (410 535-1600 ext. 2454).

Boat Ramp Keys- Seven keys are left.  Mr. Anderson requested that 10 more be ordered. A motion was made and passed that we do not sell keys to renters.  If an owner has lost a key, CBCA policy continues to be that the fee is $50. for a replacement key.

Beach Erosion- A recent storm damaged the beach access at the stairs on Ave D.  Charlie Anderson, Charlie Bauerdorf, and Dale Middleton subsequently repaired the steps.  A motion was made and passsed to reimburse Charlie for materials used to accomplish these repairs.  The CBCA thanks Charlie A, Charlie B and Dale for their excellent work on this project.

OLD AND NEW BUSINESS:

Security- BetteJane Middleton proposed that CBCA fund an additional security patrol for one night during the week in addition to the weekend patrols. The purpose of the additonal patrol would be to provide a more randomly timed patrol so that those who might be causing problems would not be able to predict when or where they might be observed.  Currently, CBCA funds the security patrol from the south end of  Long Beach to the north end of Calvert Beach.  Becuase of the involvement of the Long Beach community in this project, Terrye said she would contact LBCA to see if they are interested in participating in adding this additonal (two more hours a week) patrol.  Terrye also noted that residents contiue to be encouraged to report any observed problems to the Calvert County Sherriff's office.

Website/Beach Use Form- Charlie Anderson continues to be the webmaster for the CBCA, but his computer is currently out of service.  Nothing can be added to the CBCA website until possibly July.

CBCA Newsletter- As a point of information, Charlie Anderson noted that the CBCA newsletter normally goes out 2 times a year.  The next one is due out in November, 2008.

Spring Beach Cleanup & Party- The board determined that no beach clean up is needed at this time, or in the immediate future.  Generally, the people using the beach and the boat ramp seem to be picking up after themselves and using the disposal areas provided.  Terrye noted that, whenever the next beach clean up is scheduled, Jim Powell has offered to host a "clean up party" following the activity.  The board thanks Jim and will revisit this possibility when the next clean up is scheduled.

Status of Mowing by the Boat Ramp- The mowing is being done and maintained.  Thanks to Shannon Jones for the help.

Mosquito Spray Program-  Pat McKnett reported that all is going well.  Spraying was done on June 26th.  Is being done  on Mon. and Thurs., and sometimes on both days.

Meetings, etc. of Interest to CBCA- On Wed., June 25th, the Calvert County Planning Commission is hosting a presentation by Pulitzer-prize winning jounalist Thomas Hylton.  Mr. Hylton will speak on comprehensive planning and traditional town planning.  Citizens and business owners who wish to attend are invited to the Calvert High School Auditorium (600 Dares Beach Rd. in Prince Frederick) for an open house (light refreshments served) at 7:00 PM, followed by the presentation beginning at 7:30 PM.

The Calvert County Farmers Market will have a grand opening on July 5 in the parking lot of the Prince Frederick Shopping Center.  Thereafter, the market will be open on Wed. from 2:00 PM  to 6:00 PM  and on Sat. from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM throughout the summer and fall growing seasons.

On Monday June 9 from 7:00 PM  to 9:30 PM, the  St. Leonard vision group will hold a community planning meeting at he auction house.  Terrye plans to attend, representing the CBCA.

CBCA News - There was a general discussion about how to disseminate news from and about the CBCA, particularly via email.  No motions or decisions were made and the topic was left open to further discussion in the future.

Parking by Ave D Steps -  Charlie Anderson proposed that improved signage be placed at the driveway on Ave D and Beach Dr.  People have been observed parking in that driveway even though it is on private property and there is a sign posted at the entrance to the driveway.  There was general agreement by the board that this should be done.  Details on the "how and when" were tabled until Charlie can obtain additional information.

CBCA Spending - A motion was made and passed that the CBCA President be authorized to spend funds for community emergencies without board approval, up to $250.  All receipts for expenditures should be given to Dale Middleton (Treasurer), as is currently the board's practice.

Signs for the Boat Ramp - Jim Powell is obtaining price estimates for 2 metal parking and information signs to be installed at the boat ramp.  Terrye will follow up with Jim regarding placement of the signs and the appropriate wording that should go on them.

Next CBCA Board Meeting- There will be no meeting in July.  The next scheduled meeting will be on Sunday, August 10 at 10:30 AM in the LBCA meeting center.
