COMMITTEES:

Community Watch – Chris Savage reported that regular County meeting will not be until next month.  He will report at the July meeting after the Community Watch group meets on July 12th.

Security - Doug Crow stated that the security patrol officer’s reports have been routed other than activity at Long Beach, things have been quiet.

Boat Ramp Keys - Mr. Anderson said he has 28 remaining keys.  There have been no problems with the locks at the boat ramp.

Mosquito Control – Although Pat was not at the meeting it was noted by Doug that she continuing with the Mosquito testing and that the truck appears to be coming and all is well.

OLD BUSINESS:

Kester Property/Cliff Erosion – Doug Crow spoke to someone related to the Kester Property which has experienced significant erosion since last Fall and the person stated that they were aware of the situation but were not planning on doing anything about the problem.

Ave D Stairs – Doug Crow thanked Charlie Anderson for all of his assistance in dealing with the contractor for the repair.  Charlie stated that the honorary plaque that was previously on the stairs was in poor shape and couldn’t be placed back on the stairs.  He would give it back to Doug.

Family Fun Day - The CBCA Family Fun Day is scheduled for Saturday, June 26, 2010 (rain date on Sunday, June 27th).  Terrye Zaremba asked for help in providing food, paper goods, etc., and for ideas for activities.  Not many Board members have gotten back to her.  She will place calls for assistance again.  She also ordered a new banner that will be placed out on the sign on Calvert Beach Rd. that is 6ft long by 1 ½ft wide to help promote the event.  Maria volunteered food supplies from her store and will inform people of the event. Terrye also arranged for the “Reptile Guy” to come and provide entertainment.

During this discussion, the concept of how CBCA markets events like this and others was discussed.  Maria Buehler suggested the use of Email to reach our members which we have had problems with in the past because of anti-spamming programs.  Maria suggested that we look at developing mail lists using third party email providers such as one she uses called MailChimp (www.mailchimp.com).

NEW BUSINESS:

Dues Collection – Charlie Anderson reported that 107 homeowners have paid dues to date and that we are short by approximately $4,500 from this point last year.

County/St. Leonard Issues – Doug Crow expressed disappointment regarding a draft letter that was proposed to the County suggesting that CBCA had endorsed Tim Grover’s letter from the St. Leonard Vision group in support of the sewer study in the St. Leonard Town Center along w/increased zoning density and a second route out of the beaches to St. Leonard.

A motion was made and the board voted to not approve support for the St. Leonard Vision Group’s letter to the County Government and that further review would be given regard our participation in that group.

Doug also stated that if members have any individual opinions regarding this to please pursue those on their own.

Incident in Boat Ramp Area - Doug Crow explained that he received an Email from Mr. Marcum complaining about an incident that involved unleashed dogs on the beach, an SUV parked on the boat ramp and that he wanted this situation corrected.  The board agreed that Doug would send a reply to Mr. Marcum thanking him for bringing the situations to the Board’s attention.

General CBCA Items:

Meeting Day/Time – remains the same for now. That is the 3rd Monday of the month @ 7:00 P.M.

New Homeowner Welcome Letter -   A revised letter was forwarded to the members prior to the meeting.  If anyone has suggestions please forward those to Doug.

Develop Annual Calendar – Doug asked for any ideas for specific regular events that we can plug into Annual Calendar for CBCA.  Items like when the Newsletters need to be prepared, mailed, etc. and when our property taxes need to be prepared.  Items like this would be helpful.  Please send any ideas to Doug.

Focus Issues – In an effort to focus the goals of the organization, it would be helpful if each of us came up with a list of key focus issues that you feel the Board should be pursuing.  For example:  Increase attendance at the Board Meetings, Cliff Erosion, Hiker/Biker Trails etc.

OTHER BUSINESS:

Fossil Day – Charlie Anderson had been approached by members of the Long Beach Civic Association to partner with them on new event that would include fossil displays from the two beaches as well as fossil identification.  As he learns more, this will be relayed to the Board.
