Roads
and Drainage- Chris
Rogers reported the overgrowth on the transformer on Ave. D to SMECO. A crew came out and cleaned it off. Chris has not contacted the zoning board
about the overgrowth on and condition of the abandoned house on Ave D. She will follow up.
Community
Watch - Terrye Zaremba
received a letter from the Calvert Alliance Against Substance Abuse announcing
a national campaign aimed at raising awareness of the problem of alchol and drug
abuse, and the need for prevention programs.
The campaign symbol is a red ribbon. Communities are requested to
display this symbol during "Red Ribbon Week", Oct. 23 - 31.
Boat
Ramp Keys - The
board decided that, beginning next year, when dues paying members are issued
keys to the boat ramp, they will also be given one
parking permit card and one guest parking card.
The card is to be displayed in the windshield when parking at the boat
ramp.
Beach Preservation -Terrye attended Patuxent
Appreciation Day. She noted two websites
with interesting information about conservation and preservation: www.ecofabriks.com - commercial natural fiber
wetland restoration, stabilizing shorelines and www.scawp.org - Sothern Calvert
alliance for watershed protection (SCAWP).
OLD
BUSINESS:
Sign
for the Parking lot - Jim Powell obtained an estimate of $45.
for an 18 x 24 aluminum sign. The board decided that the wording on the
sign should be concise and specific (cars park here, trailers park here,
e.g.). At Charlie Anderson's suggestion,
the board agreed that info about the new sign be included in the Fall CBCA
newsletter. At mention of the
newsletter, Terrye requested that board members
forward suggestions of additional topics for newsletter to her.
Missing
street signs - Charlie reported that the county will
replace two missing street signs and repair the two broken ones. Also, they mayl put
a sign up marking where Calvert Beach Rd. ends and becomes Bayview
Ave.
Vision
Group - Terry said
the next meeting is the first Monday in November. She will continue to raise the need for a
biking/ hiking path.
CBCA
Website - Charlie
is continuing to work on finding new space to host the CBCA website. He will keep the board advised.
Community
Bulletin Board -
Curtis Walker offered to build a new sign for the community bulletin board of
better quality materials than the one that is currently in use. He will do this at no cost to the CBCA. Charlie is continuing research on finding
the rules for bulletin board usage.
CBCA-Sponsored
Charity Events -
The board voted to sponsor a "treasure hunt" on the beach in June,
2009. The event will be for
Dogs/trash
- Terrye reported that the neighborhood problem reported at
the last meeting was favorably resolved.
NEW
BUSINESS:
Doggie
bags - The board
approved a motion to provide pet waste removal bags at the gate to the boat
ramp and at the Ave D steps. Charlie
volunteered to check into pricing.
Newsletter/Welcome
letters - Terrye sent a welcome letter to one new homeowner.
