COMMITTEES:
Roads
and Drainage - Chris Rogers spoke to Libby Mills,
Calvert County Zoning Enforcement, about the unkempt property on Avenue D. Mrs. Mills said that the zoning commission
can do nothing about the physical condition of the building. Regarding the property, the County will
contact the owner if the grass/weeds are over 12 inches high. There are no County regulations regarding the
maintenance of trees and/or bushes. Anything
growing or hanging over onto neighboring properties may be cut down by neighboring
owners.
Community
Watch - Charlie
Bauerdorf reported on several items discussed at the recent community watch
meeting. Residents should beware of internet scams (e.g., fake lotteries,
credit cards, banking offers). Another
hot crime is the theft of GPS's from cars.
Even if the GPS is put away, thieves watch for wires and/or the suction
cup marks on the windshield. Purse
snatchings are also way up, frequently taking place in grocery stores and from
women walking in parking lots. These crimes are more prevalent in the northern
part of the county. The next meeting
will be in January.
Boat
Ramp Keys - The board voted that a sign should
be posted at the boat ramp showing the name and phone number of the towing
company. The towing company will be
asked if they are able to put up the sign and they will be given a key to the
boat ramp. CBCA will inform the Calvert
County Sherriff's office about this procedure as a point of information.
Beach
Erosion - Nothing
new was reported.
OLD
BUSINESS:
Fall
Newsletter - Terrye
Zaremba reported the the Fall newsletter was mailed out and, when asked, all in
attendance had received one. Dale
Middleton also reported that CBCA is getting a good response in terms of
updated dues payments.
Signs
for Parking Lot - Jim
Powell reported that the new signs will be posted before the locks/keys are
changed.
CBCA
Sponsored Treasure Hunt - Terrye asked the board and community members to think of some
additional activities for the upcoming spring Family day & treasure hunt to
be discussed at the next meeting. She
also asked if anyone could supply horseshoes and/or frisbees for adults. For children, Chris Bauerdorf volunteered to
run the Treasure Hunt.
Security
Reports - No
update, pending Charlie Anderson's next report.
NEW
BUSINESS;
Steve
Krembs - With sadness, Terrye noted the recent passing
of Steve Krembs, former CBCA President.
On behalf of the CBCA, the board approved a contribution of $50.00 in Steve's memory to the church he
attended. A sympathy card is also being
sent to the family from the CBCA.
New
Website Domain -
All issues concerning the CBCA website have been resolved.
Meeting
Day - The
date/time/place of upcoming meetings are posted on the Community Bulletin
Board. The board voted to change the sign
to read "community" meeting instead of "board" meeting to make it clear
that all Calvert Beach residents are welcome to attend. The board also voted to hold CBCA Community
meetings on the third Saturday of each month.
NEXT
MEETING: January 17, 2009 at 10:30 AM at the LBCA
Community Center.
